Pakistan Railways launches E-Ticketing
Your railway seat is now just a click-away!
A step into right direction – Pakistan Railways launched online ticketing system on Monday, 3rd October-2016. Progressing at fast pace, the Pakistan Railways is being laced-up with new infrastructure including state-of-the-art coaches, business trains and implementation of on-time schedules, all under the ministerial administration of Khwaja Saad Rafique.
The inaugural ceremony was held at Railway headquarters in Lahore in which senior officials were present including GM Railways, SP Railway Police and others.
Fahad Rizwan, Director of PR Information Technology, briefed the ceremony about the features of new system and added:
“Pakistan Railways and United Bank Limited (UBL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to issue E-ticketing to people two months ago and the project has been completed within a stipulated period.”
The online ticketing system has been designed with an easy-to-use interface so users can easily reserve their seats. The passengers can access the online booking portal through their mobiles or computer, select the desired seat and class, make an online payment and that’s all! After the seat is reserved the passenger will get a notification of his/her ticket code, seat number, coach number, class (economy or saloon), date of departure and payment confirmation. Users can choose to make online payments through a number ways which include: Credit Card, Debit Card, Mobile Banking and UBL Omni.
Forget the hassle of finding PR booking offices in your city as now your ticket is just a few clicks away! The online service will work 24×7. A dedicated team of IT personnel has been engaged by PR to work for only online ticketing department. A hotline number in this regard will soon be released for general enquiries.
Fahad Rizwan further added that the new booking system is currently under beta testing phase. It’s initally introduced for two lines: Lahore-Rawalpindi Railcar and Islamabad-Karachi Green Line Train. Under the beta phase, the PR will allow and encouragethe passengers to report flaws or negligencies (if any) of online ticketing system to the IT department. If found, the errors/flaws would be fixed promptly.
